Topper style (sub teens and teens) draft of topper pattern 1) – coat foundation using the dress foundation as a guide, draft a coat foundation as follows:
lower the neckline 1/4″ – broaden the shoulders 1/4″ – add 1/2″ to each side seam. 2 and 3) – back of collar a to b – equals back of neck c to d b to e – width of collar (1-1/2”), square at point b e to f – equals b to a. square at e
4 and 5) – Front and collar in one For front overlap, continue line down below point F, 1-1/4” away from center In order to close the side dart, first locate a pivoting point along the side dart, 3” away from center front. Draw slash line from neck (1-1/2” away from center front) to pivoting point. Slash along dotted lines from shoulder to pivoting point and spread, closing the side dart as shown in diagram 5.
draft of topper with deeper armhole. 6) lower the armhole, extend side seam and center back, and lengthen below hip line. draw the bottom lines slightly curved. 7 and 8 ) divide front in 2 sections; then separate as shown in diagram 8. draft front facing, pocket and welt to complete pattern, add seams and hem at lower edge.
