Fruit Border Shelves
six of the fruit borders were worked in cross stitch on white 14 count Aida using three strands of thread and were set into a craft wood shelf. The first three sections of the chart were worked on the pieces of fabric and the remaining three sections were worked on separated pieces of fabric. When stitching was completed, sanded and stain the shelf with wattyl colorwood wood stain walnut brown and seal it with estapol clear vanish. Three pieces of card were cut to fit in between the shelf and one piece of card cut and shape to fit the top. The card was padded with polyester-batting wadding and the needlework was lace onto this. A twisted card was made to finish off the edges of the lace needlework (optional). The lace needlework was secured to the shelf using double sided tape.
