MATERIALS: Red Heart” Super Saver Art. 300 by Coats & Clark or worsted yarn: 27 oz. Amethyst #356 4 oz. Lt. Coral #246 2 oz. each White #311 and Black #312 Six-strand red embroidery floss 3-1/2 yds. gold 1/4″ holographic ric-rae trim 2-1/2 yds .. gold 1/4” cording Scrap pieces of black and white felt 12 gold 3/4” star shank buttons 15 gold 5/8″ star shank buttons Two gold 1″ crescent moon shank buttons 12″ wooden 1/8″ dowel! Clear tape About 1 5-20 oz. polyester fiberfill Minimum of 5 Ibs. dried beans or sand One clean and dry plastic gallon milk jug with lid Craft glue Tapestry needle ‘K hook or hook size needed to obtain gauge GAUGE: With two strands of yarn held together as one, 3 sts = 1 1/4” 3 sc rnds = 1 1/4″. BASIC STITCHES: Ch,sl st, sc, NOTES: Work with K hook and two strands of yam held together throughout unless otherwise stated. Do not join or turn unless otherwise stated. Mark first st of each rnd. BODY With amethyst, work Basic Body [As instruction here.] HEAD With It. coral, work Basic Head [As instruction here] LEG (make 2) Rod 1-9:with black, repeat same rnds of Basic Leg . At end of last rnd joing with sl st in first sc, Fasten off. Rnd 10: Join amethyst with sc in first st, sc in next 9 sts, (sc next 2 sts tog) 6 times, sc in next 10 sts .. (26) Rnds 11-19: Repeat same mds of Basic Leg. Stuff firmly. Sew legs to, sides of Body about 2” apart so Doorstop will be in a sitting position (see photo). ARM (make 2) With It. coral, work Basic Arm [As instruction here] EAR (make 2) Rnd l : With It. coral,ch 2, 6 sc in second ch from hook. (6 se made) Rnd 2: 2 sc in each st around. (12) Fold Ear in half wrong sides together; matching sts, working through both thicknesses across curved edge, sc in next 6 sts. Leaving end for sewing, fasten off. Sew straight edge of Ears to each side of Head over rnds 11-15. NOSE Rnd 1: With It. coral, ch 3, sl st in first ch to form ring, ch 1, 2 sc in each ch around. (6 sc made) Rnd 2: (Sc in next st, 2 sc in next st)around, join with sl st in first sc. Leaving end for sewing, fasten off. Stuff lightly and sew to center front of Head over mds 14 and 15. SLEEVE (make 2) Rod 1 : With amethyst, ch 24, sl st in first ch to form ring, ch 1, se in each ch around. (24 sc made) Rnd 2: (Sc in next 3 sts, 2 sc in next st) around. (30) Rods 3-10: Sc in each st around. Rnd 11: 2 sc in next st, (sc in next st, 2 sc in next st) 2 times; for top of Sleeve, sc in next 20 sts; 2 sc in next st, (sc in next st, 2 sc in next st) 2 times. (36) Rnd l2: 2 sc in next st (sc in next st, 2 sc in next st) 2 times, sc in next 26 sts, 2 sc in next st, (sc in next st, 2 se in next st) 2 times. (42) Rods 13-15: Sc in each st around. At end of last rnd, join with sl st in first sc. Fasten off. Glue piece of ric-rae around last md of each Sleeve overlapping ends. Place Sleeves over each Arm. With fullness in Sleeves hanging down, sew md 1: to Body. JACKET BOTTOM Row 1: With amethyst, ch 58, dc in fourth ch from hook, dc in each ch across, tum. (56 dc made) Row 2: ch 3 (counts as first dc), dc in next 2 sts, 2 dc In next st, (dc in next 3 sts, 2 dc in next st) across, turn. (70) Row 3: Ch 3, dc in each st across, turn. Row 4: Ch 3, dc in next 3 sts, 2 dc in next st, (dc in next 4 sts, 2 dc In next st) across, turn. (84) Row 5: Ch 3, dc in next 4 sts, 2 dc in next st, (dc in next 5 sts, 2 dc in next st) across, turn. (98) Rows 6-7: Repeat row 3. At end of last row, fasten off. Glue two rows of ric-rac about 1/4″ apart over row 7 of jacket Bottom, Sew two large star buttons and one small star button to one side of Jacket on front (see photo). Sew two small star buttons and one large star button to other side of Jacket on front (see photo). With opening in front, sew row 1 of Jacket Bottom around waist of Body. FACIAL FEATURES With red embroidery floss, using backstitch (see illustration), embroider mouth below Nose as shown in photo For eyes, work Basic Eye [As instruction here] Glue to head 3/4″ apart above Nose with eyes looking upward. BEARD For each fringe, cut three strands of white each 1 2″ long. With all three strands held together, fold in half, insert hook around st, draw fold through, draw all loose ends through fold, tighten. Working in a curve, starting in st beside top of one Ear, fringe in each row down to row below Nose, fringe in each st across front of face and fringe in each row up to st beside top of other Ear (see photo). Working below horizontal line of fringes across face, work two more rows of fringes below first row. Trim Beard at an angle along sides of face and trim straight across bottom. HAT Rnd 1: With amethyst, ch 2, 4 sc in second ch from hook. (4 sc made) Rod 2: Sc in each st around. Rnd 3: (Sc in next st, 2 sc in next st) around. (6) Rnd 4: Sc in each st around. Rnd 5: (Sc in next 2 sts, 2 sc in next st) around. (8) Rnd 6: Sc in each st around. Rod 7: (Sc in next 3 sts, 2 sc in next st) around. (10) Rnd 8: Sc in each st around. Rnd 9: (Sc in next 4 sts, 2 sc in next st) around. (12) Rnd 10; Sc in each st around. Rnd 11: Repeat rnd 7. (15) Rnd 12: Repeat rnd 9. (18) Rnd 13: Sc in each st around. Rod 14: (Sc in next 5 sts, 2 sc in next st) around. (21) Rnd 15: (Sc in next 6 sts, 2 sc in next st) around. (24) Rnd 16: Sc in each st around. Rnd 17: (Sc in next 7 sts, 2 sc in next st) around. Sew crescent moon button to center front of Hat about 1;2″ from bottom edge. Sew remaining star buttons at random around Hat. Stuff Hat. Sew to top of Head. Glue cording around last rnd of Hat. CRESCENT MOON WAND Side (make 2) With amethyst, ch 8, sl st in second ch from hook, sc in next ch, 2 hdc In next ch, 2 dc in next ch, 2 hdc in next ch, sc in next ch, sl st in last ch. Leaving end for sewing, fasten off. With wrong sides held together, matching sts, working through both thicknesses. sew Sides together. Cut cording long enough to fit around outer curve of Crescent. Cover ends with dear tape to prevent fraying. Glue to outer edge of curve. Cut piece of cording to fit across inside edge of Crescent and across ends of first piece. Cover ends with clear tape. Glue to inside of curve and across ends of first piece forming point on each end. Tie remainder of gold cording into knot around waist. Glue remaining crescent moon button to one side of Wand. Insert dowel through back side of Wand. Secure with glue. Insert other end of dowel through one hand of Wizard. For hand shaping, bend hand around dowel; using It. coral and tapestry needle, insert needle through back of hand to where dowel slips through, catch back of st and pull back through hand tightly to shape. Secure.
